How it
works?
These devices fit only petrol fuel injected engines (unless
otherwise specified in the listing).All electronic fuel injection (EFI) engines
have a control unit known as ECU. ECUs have a set of factory pre-loaded fuel
management maps that are activated automatically under different conditions.
Although the engine potentials of a vehicle are higher than the performance you
experience in your everyday use, the factories have limited the performance
outcome through proper mapping so that the vehicle can remain within certain
emission or fuel consumption limitations and become friendlier to the average
driver/rider. To ensure that the engine runs on the correct restricting map the
ECU co-operates with a set of sensors located on different parts of the engine
area.
The Nitro X devices plug into some of those sensors that manipulate
the ECU and force it to change fueling maps manually according to your needs.
This way your engine can unleash a lot more power safely as it always runs on a
factory approved map specifically designed for your model. This can prove really
helpful when you replace the OEM air filter or exhaust with high flow ones or
you make any other modification. In these cases the standard map is insufficient
to provide proper fueling for your vehicle’s altered needs and most people turn
to professional remapping or replacement of the ECU chip. Both of the above
methods are really expensive and risky as the ECU runs on completely new data
that if is not carefully selected by the programmer, may severely damage the
engine.
