1.DISCONNECT THE CAR BATTERY ****VERY IMPORTANT****
(when connected back after the chip installation the ECU will run a Test Program that will accept the newly plugged in chip and accept the new remapping commands from the program you select).
2.
Locate the Inlet Air Temperature sensor on your engine. If your car doesn`t have
an IAT sensor then locate the engine coolant temperature sensor. Both can be
found in your car user guide, service or Haynes manual. ***IMPORTANT*** If your
car has an IAT sensor then you must fit the chip there.
3. The IAT sensors usually have 2 wires. If though yours has 4 wires then you
need the 2 signal wires and not the 2 power wires. You can use an electrical
multimeter to find that out or if in doubt please advise a car
electrician/mechanic.
4. Remove the connector from the sensor trying not to break the safety clip that most connectors have.
5. Insert the legs of the NitroX chip into the connector contact slots. One leg in each slot. It doesn`t matter which way round the chip legs are connected. Just make sure that the legs are in contact with the metal clips inside the slots and that they will remain in contact while the vehicle is running and there will be a lot of vibration in the engine area.
6. At this point the connector can`t be plugged back to the sensor so it should be tied in order to prevent it from moving freely. Also to make sure that the chip won’t be disconnected and that everything remains in place the use of some electrical tape would be a good idea. The chip on its bottom has a sticker that can help you stick the device on a clean surface.
7. Reconnect the car battery and test drive your car. You’ll be able to feel the difference immediately, though your car ECU will take some learning time to make micro adjustments in order to reach maximum performance for the program you have selected. This learning period lasts about 100 miles (plus or minus 50 miles depending on the ECU type and model)
If for some reason your vehicle behaves problematically after the installation of the chip, then you must remove it and connect back the OEM IAT sensor. It is rather uncommon but some ECU units have a safety program that might not accept the chip remapping commands. But that’s not a problem as the process is totally reversible so when the chip is disconnected the ECU returns to the original program.

Programming
instructions
To set the mapping programmes place the
dip switches (of the desired programme combination) in “ON” position. The numbers
1,2,3,4 in the following combinations represent the matching dip switches on the
NitroX chip placed in “ON” position.
-
1+2+3+4 switched on = 5 %
-
1+2+3 switched on = 10 %
-
1+2+4 switched on = 15 %
-
1+3+4 switched on = 20 %
-
2+3+4 switched on = 25 %
-
1+2 switched on = 30 %
-
1+3 switched on = 35 %
-
1+4 switched on = 40 %
-
2+3 switched on = 45 %
-
2+4 switched on = 50 %
-
3+4 switched on = 60 %
-
1 switched on = 70 %
-
2 switched on = 80 %
-
3 switched on = 90 %
-
4 switched on = 100 %
The performance
percentage in the list above doesn’t necessarily match the performance response
of your car.The performance values given above represent only
the performance value increase of the chip given by the
manufacturer.
The starting value of your car might not
necessarily be the same as of the chip. That means that zero
point in your car might be between “b” and “f ” programme .So all programmes
below your car zero point will work as fuel economy programmes BUT will
decrease your car horsepower.
To find out the best programme for you,you should start test riding your car using different programmes starting from the lowest one, skipping a couple every time until you reach a point of satisfactory performance. Then you can test one programme up or down to decide which is the best for you.
BKRACINGPARTS help notes and FAQs
GENERAL NOTES:
- The device works only on : Petrol/gasoline electronic fuel injection engines. It does NOT work on diesel cars.
- The IAT sensor is unique on any car so it's easy to be located.BUT if in doubt just ask a car electrician to point at the sensor. It's free and it will save you a lot of time and will limit the risk of making an electrical connection mistake.
- Modern car ECUs have safety softwear installed so even if you make a bad connection the chances of causing damage are very limited. In most cases the worse it can happen is the check light on the dashboard to turn on.Just undo what you have done and it will turn off.In some cases you have to turn off and on again the key switch.
IMPORTANT
USER FRIENDLY INSTALLATION NOTES:
-
Avoid to use the coolant sensor unless you are sure that you know what you are doing. In very few cars that is a clever option. This sensor may affect fueling commands on some specific cars but it also affects cooling fluids traffic commands and cooler fan function. So unless your car has a second sensor for that be careful if you use this sensor. At least monitor your engine heat gauge to see if your car behaves normally in traffic.
-
Sometimes the IAT sensor is incorporated with other sensors so the plug has more than 2 wires. That is not something that should make you panic. The wires of the IAT are only 2 so you have to locate them.A simple and not very proffesional way is to try all combinations until you find the one that turns off the check light on the dashboard. It sounds very risky but it actually works. The professional way is to use a multimeter to find the correct pair but since that is a complicated process for most of us the best you can do is to ask an electricial what is the pair you need.
-
What happens with the remaining wires??? You can bridge the remaining pins of the sensor with the matching slot of the plug with pieces of wire or you can plug the plug on the sensor and cut the 2 wires of the IAT and connect them to the device(that is my least preferable solution as I hate to leave modification traces behind).
FAQs
-The check light turns on after the installation of the device what's wrong?
a) The metals of the pins don't touch the metals of the slots(bad contact).Usually people tend to push the pins too far in the slots for fear they might come out so there is bad contact with the slots.
b) You have forgotten to select a program. If no program is selected the check light turns on.
c) The device is incompatible with your model. Some ECU versions have different software that doesn't allow the device to intervene. In this case contact us for replacement or refund.
d) Turn off and on the car key switch so that the ECU runs a new test program in order to accept the new device.
e) The device is faulty. That is rather unlikely but always a possibility so just contact us for help.
-Can the car engine get damaged?
That is highly unlikely as the device only triggers factory loaded maps already existing in the ECU.So everything is according to the factory pre-set safety limits. If something is out of order the check light on the dashboard will turn on.
-Does the device void the car warranty/does it leave traces?
The device is a modification accessory that could be considered as a reason to void your car's warranty if seen on your car.Car companies always try to find a reason to achieve that so you should better avoid this kind of adventures.BUT the device is untraceable when removed and since removal is so easy (just unplug it and everything resets to normal) then just do it before you go for service and your warranty will never be questioned.
-Will I get 25bhp from my car for sure?
For god's sake only turbo chargers can give easily that power on every car.The increase on every car depends on the type of engine, engine capacity, turbo or not and so on.
The increase rate from my experience is about 6-8bhp for every 100bhp originally produced by the car engine. You can get 25bhp from a strong car but not from your 1lt Matiz. Yet when you accept that and you realize that all fueling devices work this way you become a happy man knowing that you have bought the best device for such a small amount of money.
-Is it compatible with a chip/other mod I have recently installed?
The NitroX device is compatible with almost all mods apart from other devices that use the IAT sensor for modifying the ECU fueling commands.
- Where does it plug in ?
It plugs into the IAT (air
temp.)sensor plug altering the fuel management commands to the ECU according to
the setting you choose. Also it changes ignition timing 1 or 2 degrees depending
on the setting.
- After installation I can't feel the difference,what's wrong?
The ECU needs some time
to accept the modified commands so fueling adjusts gradually to new settings and
sometimes change is relatively hard to notice especially if your engine is of
low capacity. A good test is the following drive fast for a couple of miles
using a high program and then turn off the engine change to the lowest setting
and drive fast again for a while.Oh!! Yes!! the power loss is more than
obvious. That means the device makes difference. If for some reason you don't
experience that, just contact us for help.
- There are more than 2or 4 wires,what's wrong?
There is nothing
wrong. It's quite common. Please refer to the IMPORTANT USER FRIENDLY INSTALLATION NOTES
section above.
